Appointments & Cancellations

Please phone us or call in for an appointment time. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and doctor.

Longer consultations are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time.

To make sure we are looking after your health in the best possible way we encourage continuity of care and suggest that you see your regular doctor whenever possible.

It may be possible for you to see a doctor without an appointment if necessary, but please be aware that without an appointment there may be a wait. Emergencies and patients with an appointment will always be given priority.

If you find that you are unable to attend for your appointment please provide us with as much notice as possible.

If you or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can organise this for you. Please let us know when you make the appointment.

Medical Certificates

A medical certificate can only be issued after an examination by a doctor. Please make an appointment if you require a medical certificate for work purposes.

Repeat Prescriptions

To receive a repeat prescription you will need to see your doctor so that he/she can monitor your progress and response to the medication.

Receiving Results

To protect your privacy and to provide you with continuity of care it is our policy that results are not given out over the telephone. We ask that you make a follow-up appointment with your usual doctor (or the doctor that has requested the tests) to discuss the results.

We will advise you at the time of your consultation when the results are expected to be available, and suggest that you make a follow up appointment for this time.

Automatic Recall System

Our practice uses a recall and reminder system to make sure we are looking after your health by promoting continuity of care. The system encourages you to be actively involved in decisions about your health.

Information from your health records tell us which check-ups you are due and when you should visit your doctor. This will help to make sure that important health checks are not forgotten and are performed on time.

The reminder system will also mention tests required to help prevent or detect certain conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and some forms of cancer (particularly cervical and prostate cancer) as well as treatments such as follow-up immunisations.

In some cases, you may also receive reminders in addition to those generated from our practices, for example the Queensland Government Pap Smear Register (for the detection of cervical cancer).

Our doctors follow the guidelines outlined in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners ‘guidelines for preventive activities in general practice’. These guidelines are based on the recommendations of organisations such as the National Health and Medical Research Council, the National Heart Foundation and others.

Please discuss with your doctor any concerns you have or any further information you would like about the recall and reminder system.

Home Doctor Service

Home visits are available for regular patients of this practice whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. Home visits are undertaken at the discretion of the doctors.

We have a formal arrangement with National Home Doctor Service to provide care outside of our normal opening hours. Their phone number is 13 7425 (13 SICK)

Visit the Home Doctor Service website.

Interpreter Service

If your first language is not English and you would like the help of a translator, please let us know and we will make use of a free service provided by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs called the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS). This service is provided to non-english speaking permanent residents or Australian citizens. Multilingual general health information is also available through TIS via the internet. Please do not hesitate to ask us and we will be happy to help you access the information that you need.

Privacy of your Information

Your medical record is a confidential document. Our policy to maintain the security of all personal health information at all times and to ensure that the information is only available to authorised members of staff. We abide by the Australian Privacy Principles (available for review here)
